She received her Bachelors of Arts in Illustration and Art History from the Minnesota State University in Moorhead in 2023. Her work as of the last three years primarily revolves around fantasy and myth based stories from Celtic culture, she also practices Scientific Illustration and plans on getting a certificate for it in the future. She uses a variety of mediums but her favorites are watercolor, gouache, colored pencil and acrylic paint, these mediums are layered together throughout her work to create texture.. Schuppan enjoys exploring myths from various cultures and creating images that convey a sense of whimsy, while also exploring the melancholy and macabre side of stories. In addition to her work as a watercolor artist, Schuppan began learning printmaking while in undergraduate school and enjoys learning new processes and techniques for linocut and drypoint etching. She plans to further her education in art history and obtain a Masters in Art with a focus on Asian art, particularly Korean Celadon ceramics and Southeast Asian paintings.
The event is open house style. Drop in and partake in a snack as you take in the art. The coffee bar will be open for purchases.
There will be an artist talk about 7pm and Leilani will be available for questions and conversation all evening.
