The outpouring of support and love from our community and people from all over the country has been unbelievable.We appreciate each and every one of you who have reached out in any way.
We do please ask that you not call the store as we have also very busy in the shop. Please scroll through the information below, if the answer you are looking for is not there, please send an email to contact@mettacoffee.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
To answer some questions:
1. The absolute best thing to donate is money. Non-profit dollars go so much further than regular dollars. It takes less space, time, and energy to be converted to EXACTLY what is needed. We will not take cash at the shop, we will take checks, but donating through the Parents for Good link below is the easiest way.
2. We will be accepting donations until there is no longer a need.
3. The updated needs list is always on the Parents for Good website. I also try to keep the Metta website updated as well.
4. The donations received are being housed at Anoka United Church of Christ then distributed through Anoka Hennepin Mutual Aid.
5. Volunteer opportunities are available through Parents for Good as well. They need drivers, sorters, delivery drivers and more.
6. The lowest need items are Ramen, Mac & Cheese. The highest need items are money, cooking oil, and deodorant. Click the link under Inventory Priorities below to find out more.

Metta was started by mother/daughter duo, Amber and Amanda in Andover, MN in June, 2020. It was named “Metta” after the Buddhist meditation that Amber practices while roasting their coffee beans since 2014. Loving-kindness goes into every small, hand-roasted micro-batch.
Metta Coffee Cafe was opened in June of 2020. They served specialty coffees, lattes, bakery items, breakfast, and lunch. In 2022 they received news that their location was eventually going to be needed for some renovations in the building. They had to keep it under wraps until they knew for sure when things were happening. In February of 2023 they got the confirmation and in March of 2023, the cafe doors closed.
Amber and Amanda have been growing their passion for coffee roasting and focusing on Metta Coffee Roasters.
Amber began training and observing at Avant Garden in early May 2023 and is now the the General Manager of the coffee bar “Metta in Avant Garden”, under the ownership of Jenni. Avant Garden has been a staple in downtown Anoka for many years. There have been so many amazing changes during this transition including the bookstore moving mainly upstairs, more seating downstairs, mugs available, new drinks, a non-smoking patio, wonderful children and adult events through both Metta & Avant Garden.
Amanda joined Amber behind the coffee bar once again in February as a part-time barista at the Metta Coffee Bar inside Avant Garden.
We are so excited and grateful to have found brick and mortar shops once again to sell Metta!
